Lennon’s Duo Triumph Over Alfreton in Pairs Competition

Dave and Dan proudly receive the Pairs trophy

Snooker Final Report

One year after watching their teammates, Gav Shirley and David Birley, lift the Pairs Trophy, Daniel Tramontano and Dave Pagett have proudly brought the silverware back home to Lennons ‘H’.

In a hard-fought final, the Lennons duo triumphed over pairs specialists Glen Shawcroft and Kennedy Wright of Alfreton Snooker Club. This marks a significant achievement for Dave Pagett, who secures his first title in the Chesterfield & District Snooker League in his debut season with the team. For Tramontano, this victory adds to his growing collection, following his success in the 6 Reds tournament back in November. With their sights now set on a league title, both players are determined to build on this momentum with Lennons ‘H’.

Match Recap

Both pairs would admit they weren’t at their best in what was a tightly contested final. With the handicaps evenly set, the match was always expected to be a close encounter.

The Lennons duo started strongly, edging the first frame on the final few colors. However, Glen and Kennedy quickly found their rhythm in the second, winning comfortably, with Wright in particular proving to be the highest scorer among the four players.

The third frame was another tense affair, with both teams struggling to adjust to the fast-paced table, often running out of position. Several unexpected in-offs gifted opportunities to their opponents, but ultimately, Lennons secured the frame, putting them just one away from victory.

The decisive moment came in the fourth frame when a rare safety error from Shawcroft handed Pagett the opportunity he needed. Taking full advantage, he cleared up to secure the match for Lennons ‘H’, denying the Alfreton duo a chance at their fourth Pairs title.

A well-earned victory for Tramontano and Pagett, as they celebrate bringing the Pairs Trophy back to Lennons ‘H’ and continue their impressive season.
