Week 25 update

Premier Division update

Alfreton ‘A’ reclaimed the top spot in the division this week with a commanding 4-1 home victory over Brotherhood ‘A’. However, with their two main challengers holding a game in hand, the title race remains wide open as the season enters its final quarter. Meanwhile, Welcome ‘A’ stayed in contention, securing an equally impressive 4-1 win over Clowne Liberal ‘A’ to keep the pressure on.

Division One Update

Despite a narrow 3-2 defeat away to Alfreton ‘G’, Newbold CA ‘A’ have edged one point clear at the top of the standings. Their lead could have been greater, but Alfreton’s Adam Cupit staged an impressive comeback, securing the two snookers he needed to steal the fifth frame from Gary Scott.

Newbold still had reason to celebrate, as Steve Goodwin dethroned New Whitt’s Dan Lock from the top of the player standings.

At Lennons, the ‘A’ team continued their dominant run, securing a fifth consecutive victory and deepening the struggles of Lennons ‘C’. Their focus now shifts to catching Alfreton ‘D’.

The standout performance of the week came from Alfreton ‘D’s Dylan Wright, who delivered back-to-back 40 breaks and winning both his frames in their commanding 4-1 away win over Brotherhood ‘B’.

Division Two update

Alfreton ‘B’s Rocco Amalou extended his incredible winning streak to eight matches, setting the tone for the league leaders in their victory over Hasland ‘B’. The 13-year-old debutant faced an early challenge as Hasland’s Daryl Turner dominated with a solid 39 break. However, a series of fouls from the more experienced Turner allowed Rocco to seize control and maintain both his personal and his team’s unbeaten run.

Meanwhile, Grassmoor secured only their third win of the season, overcoming Lennons ‘F’ to move within touching distance of Hasland ‘D’ and ‘B’, keeping their hopes of Division Two survival alive.

Division Three update

Division Three remains the league’s most tightly contested battle, with just five points separating the top five teams and the leading three all locked on 50 points. Lennons ‘I’s unpredictable season continued as they suffered a heavy defeat to Brotherhood ‘D’. Despite their setback, Alfreton ‘F’ hold onto the top spot on win difference. With only six games left, will any team manage to break away from the pack?

Division Four update

With a 4-1 victory over their clubmates, Brotherhood ‘G’, and a game in hand, Brotherhood ‘F’ continue to dominate the division, making a different winner seem increasingly unlikely as the season nears its final stage. The real battle now lies with the chasing pack, as teams fight to secure that crucial playoff spot.

Meanwhile, Newbold CA ‘C’ kept their playoff hopes alive by finally overcoming Brotherhood ‘E’ after two previous 4-1 defeats, securing a much-needed win to stay in contention.

Competition Results

Double Triumph for Steve Donner

Steve Donner enjoyed a stellar week, securing victories in both his individual matchups. He started by defeating six-time champion Martin Finnigan in the Premier competition, kicking off with a stunning 90 break—the highest of the week. Donner now holds the top three breaks in the competition this season (109, 91, 90). He then faced clubmate Paul Sainsbury in a rematch in the Harry Anderson Memorial competition, seeking redemption for a previous 3-1 defeat in the Handicap event. This time, Donner kept his composure, reversing the scoreline with a 3-1 win, aided by a 52 break, securing his third quarter-final spot of the season.

Gary Scott Stuns Defending Champion

In another Harry Anderson Memorial clash, Newbold CA ‘A’ newcomer Gary Scott pulled off an impressive 3-2 victory over defending champion Dave Bolton. Scott’s solid performance included a 36 break on his way to the win, dashing Bolton’s hopes of retaining his title.

Adam Clift Cruises into Quarter-Finals

Adam Clift of The Welcome booked his place in the Premier competition quarter-finals with a commanding win over Newbold’s Rob Morley. Consistent breaks of 46 and 34 ensured Clift’s smooth progression as the second player through to the last eight.

Ian Rose Holds His Nerve in Tense Battle

Alfreton’s Ian Rose endured a tense encounter in the Handicap competition against Hasland’s Gavin Cann. After edging a tight first frame and firing in a superb 45 break, Rose appeared set to take control. However, Cann battled back to level before edging ahead in the third frame. Rose fought hard to force a decider, where he held his nerve to clinch a hard-fought victory in a match full of twists and turns.
